being all tricked-out

so halloween came and went with all the normal fanfare and craziness. the kiddos happily donned their costumes twice this year, and between trunk-or-treating at the ward party and trick-or-treating out and about town we ended up with 4 of my largest mixing bowls full of candy. 4! luckily, some of the local community college softball girls were in need of sugar-filled sustenance and lightened our load by taking a bunch back to the dorms.

for some strange reason, the schools here in lamar have banned halloween. no costumes or parties at school, just another day. that makes me sad. i remember halloween being one of my very favorite days at school. valentine's day came and went, but halloween was something special. do any of you remember mrs. craven's kindergarten class parade through the entire school? those were great memories! i still sing the same song to my kids each year: 'halloween, halloween, lots of fun on halloween...black cats and ghosts, skeletons, too...owls and witches all say BOO!...'

anna's preschool teacher must know how much the kids love it, because they had a halloween blowout and parade at school. not being affiliated with the school district has it's perks...

anyway, here are my cute kids:

all in all, a fun holiday with beautiful weather and way too much candy.
